Tortoise and the Hare

I read an interesting article in the New York Times about turtles. Turtles have been documented living up to 250 years. It seems that, in contrast to many organisms, turtles’ organs do not break down or lose capacity to perform tasks over time, lending to their longevity. However, despite their ability to live much longer than any other animal, they are in danger of dying out as a species due to habitat loss.
