The important news of the day / my Christmas list

I recently found two great news stories both of which I would assign high significance for the larger world. It is also important to note that either of these things would make excellent Christmas presents for me. So if any Stain Club readers our there are feeling generous this holiday season I recommend looking in this direction. But this is also equally good. To give you a hint about what you have in store. This post could have easily been titled Jetpacks and Giant Squids. I think it has a rather nice ring to it.



Trivial fact related to the post: Both of the links are from Reuters News which began in the 1800's when Reuters used pigeons to carry news between a gap in the fledgling telegraph service in Europe. The history of Reuters on their home page mentions this but hardly gives the pigeons the credit they are due for launching one of the world's largest news providers.
