One story not receiving a lot of attention in the U.S. media is the recent military coup on the island nation of Fiji, it’s fourth in twenty years. Both the U.S. and the U.N. have condemned the actions, and the U.S. has suspended aid to the nation, although the situation is under review. As of this time, violence has not yet broken out, but the situation is tenuous at best. I really wish the U.S. media would spend more time on events such as this happening around the world. The only way to get this kind of coverage is to search for it online. Also, here’s a timeline of Fiji’s coup history.
