A Big Announcement
Despite Bush's best efforts, and those of his speech writers, I am not afraid of terrorism. September 11th was terrible, but there's no point in living in fear. On the other hand, I definitely do think about the war in Iraq every day. I have a clear memory of sitting in my Algebra II class and hearing about the World Trade Center, but I also have a clear memory of standing at work and watching Bush's speech that launched the invasion, and the sick feeling in my stomach that I had at both of those moments is clearest of all. Beginning with today I pledge to post something about the war in Iraq every single day. It's not as serious as a hunger strike, but it's something that I can do to protest. It will get repetitive, and people will probably get tired of reading the words "I thought about Iraq today," but I know I'm not the only one who's more concerned about our soldiers in Iraq and the Iraqi people themselves than terrorism or the "War on Terror." So from now until the war ends I will be making my daily statement to the world in the hope that it may make some difference.
