The Top 5...

shows to watch in 2007 .I realize we are already a month into the new year, but, considering how frustrating finding a good television show can be these days, I decided to wade through the crap of 2007 and find my top five picks worth watching this year.

1) 24
We here at stain club are stone-cold fans of the show. If you haven’t started watching yet, we are only five episodes in; getting a hold of the first five is cake (in fact the first 4 were released on DVD already). If I had to pick only one show to watch this year it would be this one. 24 is on Fox, Mondays at 9 eastern time.

2) The Venture Brothers
I have been a fan of the show since season 1, however I became hardcore after the end of season 2 this past fall. This show lampoons everything from Johnny Quest to David Bowie. If you are a fan of pop culture in any form from 1965 to the present, this is the show to watch. Cartoon network has the show tentatively ready to air in the fall of this year with a supposed 26 episodes for the season. The Venture Brothers is on Cartoon Network, Sunday nights at whenever the hell they feel like putting it on.

3) Entourage
Entourage is just another show to add to HBO’s arsenal of outstanding programming. The show follows the lives of a rising star, his three friends, and his manager. The show was great in season one and has been improving with each passing season. Buying HBO is a serious consideration of mine if only for this show (PUTL!). Season three apparently continues from its last aired episode in August of ’06 on April 7th of this year. If someone knows the time, feel free to leave a comment.

4) The Office
This is Steve Carrel at his finest. The office, originally created and aired in Britain, was reworked in the U.S. based on the British show. The show follows several employees on a typical workday at Dunder-Mifflin paper Co. in Scranton, PA. Each episode finds the employees in a ridiculous situation which is usually resolved at the expense of one of the employee’s job (at least this season). The Office airs on NBC, Thursdays at 8:30 eastern time.

5) South Park
Southpark has always been a staple in my TV watching career, and continues to remain there. There’s not much I can say about this show that the numerous awards already haven’t. If you’ve never seen an episode flip on comedy central any time after 9:30 and you’re likely to catch one. The new season begins on March 7th at 10 Eastern Time on Comedy Central.

These are my top five shows of the new year, feel free to add your own.
