Trust Experts, Not Talking Heads

Go read this absolute destruction of Republican tip-dweller Hugh Hewitt by General William Odom. It's a transcript of a radio broadcast, and if the transcript is any indication it must have been a hell of a thing to hear. General Odom pretty much outclasses Hewitt in every respect, and calls him out a few times on scaremongering and simply not knowing what he's talking about. The most important quote, I think, is this:
HH: Now you also write in the article that we must, that you dismiss the idea it will get worse if we leave.

WO: No, I said it doesn’t matter how bad it gets, it’s not going to get better by us staying there.

I don't think it can get much more clear than that. If we stay, more Iraqis die and more Americans die, if we leave more Iraqis die (but maybe not as many as will die if we stay) and no more Americans die. That's a shitty choice, but it's a hell of a lot better than waiting until the military is completely broken and Bush has gotten thousands more killed.
