In Memory of...

I went to an art exhibit today and one of the pieces was dedicated in memory of the artist's father. There was a thin roll of paper and a sign that invited the visitor to honor the memory of a lost loved one by writing their name on the roll. I haven't lost anyone close to me recently, thank God, and I realized that the last person I did lose was killed in Iraq. Which got me to thinking, I wish I had all 3,000 or so names of soldiers killed in Iraq memorized so I could've filled up that little roll of paper. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I'd lost a child, or a parent, to this terrible war.
