Hillary Clinton has been running into some trouble recently over her vote to allow Bush to invade Iraq way back when. Common wisdom is that she voted that way because to oppose Bush with all his momentum and lies at his back was political suicide. Something about appearing weak I think.
The only way Bush's moronic mishandling of this war can do anything but good for the Democrats, as far as I can see, is if he mishandles it so badly that the people in congress who gave him the power in the first place end up looking weak for giving in to him, which is where Hillary finds herself at every campaign stop. Imagine, back then it was deemed political suicide to oppose the war, and now it appears that it was just the opposite and the people who supported it are the ones explaining themselves and realizing that even if it wasn't political suicide they may have contracted a political terminal illness called "enabling unjust war".
It's ironic and delicious, and I hope the gutless sheep in both parties of congress learn the lesson here that war is a stain on humanity that we will be ashamed of forever if we ever even manage to eradicate it, and not something to be entered into because of political expediency. Iraq is a disgusting tragedy and anyone who had a hand in it should count themselves lucky if the only way they suffer is politically.
