Sixty Three Percent Want Out
According to a Gallup poll 63% of the country wants the military out of Iraq by the end of next year. Of course, Bush has said he'll keep us there if the only people who support him are Laura and Buster his dog. That means that this 63%, which I'm pretty sure constitutes a majority of the population (although I'm not good at math), will have to wait at least until the inauguration of the new president in 2009. One interesting aspect of the poll is that only 51% of people support resolution opposing the surge, which sort of means that 12% of people support the surge but also want out by next year. I'm not sure those two things are mutually exclusive, but they're certainly counterintuitive. Still, 63% is great, and I hope it only grows.
