A story that needs to be heard

Eric Fair just added his name to a list that includes Maher Arar and Jose Padilla. It's the list of men whose names and stories are integral to any attempt to understand this horrible war in full. Eric Fair very bravely published the story of his own complicity in the Abu Ghraib scandal today, and for that he should be applauded. The fact that Rumsfeld and Bush saw fit to blame widespread torture on "a few bad apples" is disgusting, and it's made even more so by the fact that the "bad apples" who carried out these orders are tortured by nightmares of their misdeeds that Rumsfeld and Bush don't have the decency - or maybe the conscience - to experience.
