Quick Stains: April 8

And after losing yesterday and today to the Florida Marlins, the Phillies are off to a 1-5 for the second consecutive year. Awesome. Really inspiring stuff.

The Good: Pat Burrell is swinging a hot bat, and Rollins is definitely taking more pitches

The Bad: Our bullpen is a shambles, and our defense is pretty gross as well

The Ugly: We left 14 men on base today. 14. This is almost morally offensive.

Where do we go now?: To face the Mets, one of the better teams in the NL East. Hamels, Eaton, and Moyer will take the mound in this series. The most we could expect to win is two of these games. I’ll eat my hat in joy if Eaton does not get lit up in the second game.

Things to keep in mind: The season is early, and the Phillies had a solid year last year with the exact same record at this point in the season. Also, Howard still has to come around, and Lieber is hopefully joining the pen (and maybe, JUST MAYBE, the rotation) soon. We can start turning this thing around, and it’s going to have to start with a series win over the Mets.
