I have been remiss in posting a quick stains for a little while now, to my discredit, but last night was an outstanding win for the ball club. Coming back in games against the Cubs and Brew Crew is awesome stuff. I would love to take this series from the Brewers, given the way they’ve been playing. The climb to .500 continues, and then we can set our sights on overtaking one of our NL East rivals.
- Chase Utley is having another incredibly solid year. As Jimmy and Rowand have cooled off a little, Chase has really picked it up.
- Don’t look now, but old Abe Nunez is hitting .299 on the season as of the time of this post. When Howard gets healthy, Helms may be fighting for playing time.
- Shane leads the NL in outfield assists, as do the Phils as a team. If this guy could hit for power it’d be out of control. Of course, he does have 2 homers this year (2 more than Helms) so you never know…
- How did we only get singles on all those balls rocked by Turnbow? I mean, I’m fine with it.
- Myers is the only man worth trusting in the bullpen, Geary being a distant second. Momentum shifted in the final Cubs game when we made it a one run game with our big bats coming up, and then Alfonseca pitched and failed, followed by Castro also being a disappointment.
- The season finale of 24 is next week, so that’s pretty exciting. It also has absolutely nothing to do with baseball.
- Despite the huge win last night, Moyer getting shelled is disappointing.
