My apologies for being out of the Phillies commenting the past week or so, as I was graduating from college and also going through the laborious process of selecting a car to purchase. I will have much to say over the next couple days about Howard's return, Hamels' late inning failure, and much else. However, I would like to talk about this story I recently read over at ESPN first.
As I mentioned before, I'm a big fan of celebrities using their resources to better our world, and this is just such an event. I've also been a fan of Derrek Lee as a baseball player, and this makes me like him even more. My favorite part of the story was Lee's teammate Ryan Dempster's response to hearing the news. Very humanizing depiction of some talented baseball players.
