...General Petraeus. A lot of people think we don't torture and that it could never happen here. Well, why does our top general feel it necessary to say this?

It's been clear for a while to anyone who's paying attention that we detain people illegally (even US citizens) and torture anybody we feel like torturing, but I think it's incredibly significant that a general - make that "an active general" - has stood up like this. I haven't seen anything so courageous since Colin Powell resigned because he knew invading Iraq was wrong. Oh wait...
