The Phillies won last night, taking the first game against Thome and the White Sox. Eaton pitched seven scoreless frames, but keep in mind, the White Sox are the worst offensive team in baseball. Winning the series is vital. Cole goes tonight, so a win seems like a lock, which makes a loss even more likely. I apologize, but if that made sense to you, then you've probably been following the Phillies pretty closely lately.
1. Bill Conlin makes fun of Jose Mesa.
2. Howard is batting over .300 since his return from the DL, and has cracked 7 homers in 17 games. Both are solid stats and should make everyone feel a little better.
3. Of course, Wes Helms is in the longest homerless drought of his career. I watched him hit into an inning-ending double play last night. Nice.
4. Watched the ESPN broadcast of the game last night, and it was refreshing to hear some different voices. Much was made of the range and arms in the Philly outfield, which has been one of the highlights of the season (another is Cole, and a third is Chase).
More White Sox fun tonight.
