I’d like to follow up and explain the importance of a guy like Shane Victorino on a baseball team. This man is a gamer. If you watch Shane play, you’ll see what I mean. Through the pain and tears that only the Philly faithful can truly understand after another season ending in disappointment (just how do you lose that many games to the Nationals in crunch time?), one of the people for whom I felt the worst was Shane Victorino. Every time I watched him play he looked positively hungry for victory. It’s nice to see a ballplayer who plays the game with such heart. It’s nice to see a man with such passion for his sport. It’s nice to see a guy like Shane Victorino charging to the outfield at the beginning of a game.
