Santa Maria! Another Garcia!!

This just in: In the first of hopefully many moves to strengthen the Phillies to come within a half-game of missing the playoffs next season, Freddie Garcia has been added to the starting line-up. I figure adding him is a solid move as he is a veteran with some post-season experience. And what did we dump for him? Well, under-achieving trash: Gavin Floyd was a highly touted draft pick, but was probably rushed through the minors way to fast because of our terrible rotation. The other player gone is Gio "Dios Mio" Gonzalez. He came over with the deal that sent Thome packing. He never made it up to the bigs, so this seems like a pretty solid deal to me as our rotation is getting sured up. Feel free to hit up the entire story via this link:

Gillick is also apparently eyeing Kevin Mench to improve our outfield situation, although it is probable the Rowand may be on his way out if that happens. In case you didn't know, Mench is actually a native of Delaware and holds season tickets for Eagles. In addition, he has a beastly tattoo of the Eagles logo on his left bicep.
