The (excessively) esteemed Joe Klein posted recently about Iraq. Apparently General Petraeus is predicting that more troops will be needed beyond this summer which could strain the Army and the Marines - beyond the intense strain they're already under. This is bad news, but I'm more likely to trust a general than a Moron when it comes to Iraq so I'll have to see how the prediction turns out.
Klein wraps up his post by quoting Jim Webb's assertion that "We need to be far more responsible getting out of this war than we were getting into it," and saying that by micromanaging the war the Democrats are risking compounding Bush's mistakes. All I can say here is what has already been said by many commenters over there; if everyone agrees that a civil war is either coming or already raging then what can we gain by hanging out in the middle of it? I have yet to hear a compelling answer to that question.
