Harry Reid said today that the war is lost. I'll avoid labeling this another example of our influential readership, although I did say a while back that the war has become unwinnable. I'd love to claim that Harry Reid is one of our 7 or so readers, but I think this is more an example of how great minds think alike.
Anyhow, obviously the dead-end war supporters, for whom defeat is impossible as long as Bush hasn't acknowledged it, will try to turn this into "Reid hates the troops" nonsense, but I hope everyone (especially the media) will realize that admitting defeat and coping with it is not the same as causing it.
Really, there's just no way for an occupying force to win a civil war. Imagine if Iraq tried to side with the Confederacy or something like that. That's a ridiculous comparison, I know, but it's only slightly less ridiculous for us to think that we can accomplish anything over there anymore.
