Junk Mail
Several days ago, I saw an interesting article online and sent an e-mail to myself about it. After completely forgetting about this, today I find the thing in my junk mail folder. Something’s wrong when your junk filter is filtering out things you send to yourself. Does my junk mail know I’m sending myself useless nonsense? Shouldn’t it assume that if I sent it to, well, me, I probably want it, no matter how stupid it might be? Is the junk filter trying to protect me from my own attempts to amuse myself with useless and vapid entertainment for my own good? Is it some sort of moral arbitrator? I also received an e-mail from “Death,” with the delightful subject “Readying Losing,” and that did not get filtered out to my junk mail. Does my junk mail filter want me dead? Does it know something I don’t? I may need a junk filter for my junk filter at some point.
