Who Thinks a Surge Will Work?

Not the majority of Americans, as we know. But really, who thinks that this could actually make the difference? I haven't done my homework as far as how big 21,500 troops is in the big picture, but I shouldn't have to do any homework to find that out. The media and those politicians who believe in this plan should be telling me exactly why they think it will work. As far as I can tell they think it'll work because they think reducing troops would be bad, so increasing them must be good. I'm prepared to be convinced, honestly, if someone will try to present the case in good faith. The key there is good faith, because so far the surge supporters have taken the roundabout approach of suggesting treason on the part of anyone who doesn't agree with them. I'm willing to be convinced, but at this point my dejected bet is that this surge fails and more people die. I also want to take a moment here to reflect that in this post I'm actually requesting a good old propaganda campaign, just because that would be better than being called defeatist and un-American. How low they've sunk us all.
