A Few Good Links

In terms of the often polarizing debate on US foreign relations I rather like what this guy is saying. It is unfortunate that such thoughtful and moderate views are often lost in the media cacophony.

Bill Kristol is a hack. The sun will come out tomorrow. I'm sure you can think of other factual statements to add to that short list. Also, on page 3, you'll find that Stain Club's favored son, Keith Olbermann, will be moderating one of the Democratic debates. I love Olbermann for his rants and raves, but he's the wrong guy to host this sort of event. I would not be happy if Bill O'Reilly was in charge of a Republican debate and I think we can all agree on that.

Bill Simmons writes a good one about the NBA. I generally don't care about it, but I remember once upon a time we had the Big Four in sports. That number seems to be dropping rapidly.

Another stupid running back decided to open his idiot mouth and chime in on an ongoing investigation. According to dearest Emmitt, Vick's alleged participation in dogfighting, "Now, granted he might have been to a dogfight a time or two, maybe five times, maybe 20 times, may have bet some money" isn't relevant because "he's not the one you're after. He's not the one you're after, he's just the one whose going to take the fall -- publicly." Thanks Emmitt. I'm glad you're there to let us know that we should ignore the laws banning this sort of deplorable activity to let us know that somehow Vick isn't at fault. Are football agents around the country frantically calling their clients in an effort to teach them to say, "Dogfighting is a cruel and terrible crime, but..." before defending Vick? Apparently they need to. Right now Emmitt and Ladell Betts' backup are worse in my book than Vick. He is still innocent until proven guilty. These morons, on the other hand, don't think anything bad happened and that's despicable.

Edit: This one didn't make the original post, but all of us baseball loving Stain Clubbers would have been remiss not to include it. It's a fitting tribute to Hank Aaron, a man whose accomplishments in the face of adversity will be remembered as much more than a long held home run record

Also my apologies for all the Washington Post articles today.
